Set-up & General Information

Looking Forward to The Program
We are looking forward to share our program with you. We would like to emphasize a few details which would help us to provide you with the best possible experience.
General:
Preparing your group for a Drum Tales program
The Jewish Drum Tales program presumes a basic familiarity with the stories being told. The program emphasises select key themes and ideas into the musical format. We suggest that the participants have a basic understanding of the narrative and main characters. The program is intended to be an enrichment experience and should not be relied upon as the participants sole exposure to the holiday stories. If you have any questions, please contact us to discuss in further detail.
Supervision: (For Children’s Programs)
Because of the nature of our programs, which involve live group drumming and music, we follow a classroom/crowd management formula which ensures order and control throughout the program. A big part of maintaining a controlled and overall successful program environment is to ensure that we have support from teachers, counselors, parents, and other staff in ensuring that the program flows well and that the participants are able to follow instructions.
We strongly urge supervisors to work with us to ensure a high quality, fun and engaging experience.
Supervisors should be informed that there will be boundary markers laid on the ground to help define the program space. The participants will be instructed to be seated behind the boundary lines. Supervisors should help ensure that the boundaries are honored until we have the opportunity to introduce the program and demonstrate the decorum and program instructions.
We will also elaborate further on the day of the program.
Technical & Logistics:
1) Off-loading and Parking:
Please try and make accommodations for us to be able to offload our equipment and pack down after the program is complete. Because we will be bringing a large quantity of musical instruments and props for the program, we request that the easiest possible offloading point and elevators (freight or regular) be made available to us.
It is also very helpful for us to be provided a parking space in situations where parking is limited or difficult to find. If parking is unavailable and we need to pay for a parking space, we will submit receipts to you to cover the parking expenses.
For NYC programs, we request that parking expenses be covered. We will submit receipts to you for proof of payment.
2) Space Requirements:
A medium sized open space is best for our program (e.g. social hall, classroom, gym…etc). We strongly suggest that the space which is made available to us is clean, tidy, and quiet. Preferably a space which IS NOT shared by other activities and potential distractions.
* Children’s Programs: We do not require chairs for children’s programs. Our setup is designed to accommodate the children using the instruments on the floor.
* Teen and Adult Programs: Please provide chairs/ benches for participants to sit on. The chairs should be arranged in a ‘U’ or horse shoe shape.
(Please contact us in advance to discuss the space and set up if you are unsure about the room or resources you have available. We can be reached on 201-735-9222)
3) Setting Up:
We prefer to set up the room and have everything ready before the show begins, without disturbance. The show begins as the audience enters the room. The impact of people walking into a room which is impeccably arranged is important to the process. We would appreciate any possible support in making this happen.
4) Sound System and Microphones:
In general we do not use amplification, but in some situations we may require a sound system. Depending on the program size as well as the space made available to us, we may request that you provide a basic sound system (PA, microphones and speakers).
5) Working with you
We are aware that each group and program setting is going to be different. If you have a specific situation or space which requires special arrangements, we will do our utmost to accommodate you as best we can. Please feel free contact us with any questions, comments, or concerns at info@JewishDrumTales.com or on 201 735 9222.
